At CityVoter, we talk to small business owners across the country every day. And when we talk to them about how they reach voters, the one constant is Facebook. It’s fun, it’s easy and it works. Now it works a little better. The new and improved version of the “Vote For Us” Tab is here.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Adding the “Vote For Us” Tab to your Facebook Fan Page
The “Vote For Us” Tab features prominent contest branding, up-to-the-minute stats, and a large photo that you can choose in the Business Center. In addition, the Tab will showcase past awards, recent votes and any Voter Deals that you are offering.
When voting is happening, direct Facebook Fans to your Tab for an easy way to campaign. Voters will see the giant “Vote For Us” button and know what you want them to do. It’s a great way to campaign and will help drive likes to your Fan Page.
After the Contest is over, the “Vote For Us” Tab will thank your voters and promote any awards that you have won.
To add the tab, log in to the Business Center and head to the Facebook section. Or, for step-by-step instructions, refer to this article.
Have you added the “Vote For Us” Tab? Let us know what you think in the comments!

Not only is the 2012 KSL Local Salt Lake County AList CityVoter’s first AList contest in Salt Lake, but The Red Balloon Toy Store has helped make this the first contest with charitable efforts.
The Red Balloon Toy Store has pledged to donate one Sing-A-Ma-Jing Doll to the Primary Children’s Hospital for each vote that they receive, regardless of where they place. They have always believed in giving back, and felt that this was a great way to team up with customers to help brighten the days of as many children as they can. The store normally makes donations to smaller schools and charities, but this donation effort is the largest that they have made to date. At the time of this post, the Toy Store has received over 100 votes!
Tying in a charitable component to the contest is a great marketing tool. It allows customers to feel good about voting, not only because they are helping your business, but also because they are doing good. The customers at the Red Balloon Toy Store appear to be just as passionate as the store itself. One customer even brought in a 22 page poem about their store!
The Red Balloon Toy Store is forward thinkers in other aspects and is very creative with social media. They have an active Facebook and Twitter account, as well a Google + page. They also have a blog filled with numerous gift ideas and even a mobile website. The store isn’t new to QR codes either, with one that links directly to their mobile site. Their success has allowed them to recently open up a third location in North Logan, UT.
What philanthropic efforts has your business done in the past? Do you plan to do anything in the future?

Voting for the 2012 Louisville A-List contest began last week, and the contest is already off to a terrific start with over 10,000 votes thus far. Based on past contests, it is clear that the Louisville locals are passionate about their favorite businesses. Pizza lovers united during the last contest to cast over 2,500 votes in the BEST Pizza category. Can Wick’s, a two time winner, keep their reign and win BEST Pizza in the 2012 contest?
The Arts and Entertainment section was also incredibly popular in the last contest with all of the five categories each acquiring over 1,000 votes. Speaking of Louisville’s love of entertainment, we heard a rumor that Louisville is the home of some basketball fans. We wanted our Louisville A-Listers to have the chance to win NCAA March Madness tickets, so we have partnered with CampusLive to offer the Ticket Chasers Challenge from AT&T. It is a quick and easy challenge that simply involves catching (clicking on) a cartoon man carrying tickets as well as watching a short video. By entering in the challenge, our voters have the opportunity to win NCAA March Madness tickets! 25 lucky people will receive a pair of tickets to the games in Louisville. There are also 60 First Prize winners, which includes two food and beverage vouchers for use at a March Madness party. The details of this party will be determined by the Sponsor.
We can’t wait to find out which of our lucky voters win the March Madness tickets, and we are also looking forward to finding out which local businesses will be crowned the BEST of the 2012 Louisville A-list. Stay tuned!
