CityVoter is entering the hot summer months. This is the time when most of our "best of" city contests run. This week was somewhat of the kick off of what will be a very busy couple of weeks. Detroit and Indianapolis both launched their 3rd annual best of contests. WDIV -- our partner in Detroit -- is consistently one of the most competitive contests we have. They always generate more than 150,000 votes and tons of great local recommendations. The voting began last night at 8PM, and there are already more than 2,000 votes. Today's business of the day is East Side Mario's. They finished in the top 5 in 2007 and 2008. They're making a run for number one again this year.
Not to be outdone, we're keeping a close eye on Indy's A-List. The folks from Indianapolis have already logged more than 8,000 votes in the first week. Check out the television promotion driving people online to vote.
May was a slow month for this blog, because it was a hectic month for me. We are completing our new iphone app just in time for our huge summer bonanza of best of city contests. We've got Philadelphia, LA, Denver, San Diego, Detroit, and more entering their third consecutive years. We cannot wait to see the buzz this year.
Our t-shirt sales are through the roof. It appears we're in the fashion business now. If you're in Dallas and you take a photo of someone wearing CityVoter and WFAA t-shirt, email it to me. I'll send you a free gift certificate to Amazon.
I just got back from a week out in California and Seattle. Lots of smart people thinking about the internet live out there. Lots of fun new stuff coming to help business owners connect better with their customers online. June should be a crazy month as well. So no promises to write more, but hopefully we'll have some exciting news to share soon...like where you can find the best clams on The Cape? NECN's website can tell you. They're our newest customer.
I am the founder of CityVoter. These articles are about how our company believes the Internet should be a great way to get local recommendations. We have a vision that is helping consumers make better decisions, business owners get free promotion, and media companies grow their online audiences.
